I discovered yoga when I came to Oxford to study for my nursing degree in 1991. I am not sure exactly what drew me to dip my toe in the water, but I do know it was one of the best things I ever did!
My personal yoga practice, supported by many wonderful teachers, has been a faithful companion and nourished and sustained me for over 30 years.
As a nurse I have worked in both the NHS and charity settings. Mostly with people with long term or life limiting conditions and in palliative care. I have had the privilege to be alongside and support many people as they meet the end of their days.
I have also been a youth worker, forest school leader, am a woodland guardian and have been very involved with the development of Oxford City Farm.
Approaching 50 I took some time to review my working life and realised I wanted to be able to work more holistically with people than my role as a pain specialist nurse was allowing at that time. Keen to bring the benefits of yoga to more people I decided to train as a yoga therapist.
In August 2023 I graduated from  a rigorous 2 and a half year 580 hour yoga therapy training with The Minded Institute.  In May of that year I also completed my 200 hour yoga teacher training with Oxford’s own Nourish yoga training
Through my work as a yoga therapist and teacher I love to support people to come back to the wisdom of the body. To find ways to be more present with their experience, notice their patterns, lean into compassion and find more equanimity. I am fascinated by transitions, nourished and inspired by nature, and heartened by our capacity as human beings to move towards healing.
I have additional specialist training in yoga in palliative care and end of life, menopause yoga, chair yoga and teaching mindfulness.
